Experimental Video Installation by Yuge Zhou

Thank you to all the wonderful artists that keep contributing to Hayden's. We have a backlog of submissions we are still going through! We appreciate your effort very much. We'll be in touch with all contributors in the next few days. :)

Here's a submission by Yuge Zhou that we'd like to share with you today. Based in Chicago, Yuge was born in China. Her video artwork reflects her interest in exploring interactions between human beings and environments. This exhibition is projected on 3D relief sculptures.

http://yugezhou.com A video installation by Yuge Zhou Sound by Stephen Farrell Documentation by Jeremy Freedberg 2016; Video projection onto relief sculpture; Installed at Elmhurst Art Museum My installation is inspired by the concept of architectural relief (a technique where the sculpted elements remain attached but raised above the background plane). Audiences experience a gradual shift in the appearance and depth of the installation from a flat image to a three-dimensional view with protruding geometric shapes. I use techniques like relief and projection mapping to enhance the framed glimpses of scenes as well as emphasize the physicality of digital video.
